This blog is dedicated to sharing the multitude of reasons for homelessness in general through stories of homeless people in my home region of southern Germany. In 2022, 263,000 people were homeless in Germany, and around 40,000 of them were living on the streets.
The blog aims to combat stereotypes about homelessness prevailing in Germany and elsewhere. The stories shared represent different scenarios that cause people to lose their homes in a country where theoretically no one needs to be unhoused. Why homelessness is still an issue and how it is not the individuals’ fault like many assume is explored here.
